Pal Pet Adoption League

Every day, thousands of dogs and cats are abused, abandoned, and left for dead.

Thankfully, places like the Pet Adoption League exist to help people find homes for animals they can no longer take care of, instead of dropping them off on the side of the road, or with someone who can’t care for them.

The P.A.L. works to reduce some of the strain that’s placed on many shelters around the country, and helps to reduce the amount of animals who are Euthanized. Today’s blog post is all about the Pet Adoption League, and how their efforts are essential   To the health and wellbeing of dogs, cats, and the humans that love them.

How it All Started…

Founded in 1996, The Pet Adoption League is a non-profit 501c(0) charity, meaning that all donations made to them are tax deductible. They got their start when a group of volunteers & pet lovers decided it was time to make a difference in the way local shelters treated animals. At the time, many shelters had very high kill rates- as high as 67%. However, through the hard work of the Pet Adoption League, that number was drastically reduced to just a mere 12%.

That’s a HUGE drop in the number of animals that have lost their lives over the years. This means the work that P.A.L. does is helping cats and dogs that deserve a home, to be adopted by a loving pet parent.

How P.A.L. Finds Pets Their Forever Homes…

Besides advertising animals that are looking for homes in local Animal Shelters, P.A.L. works with people to re-home their pets instead of putting them at risk of being killed at an animal shelter. Their “Home-to-Home program” is an essential service that not only saves lives, but also reduces overcrowding. This makes for a smoother transition when someone can no longer keep their pet. This is the best way to help with pets in need when local shelters cannot.

They also hold yearly events like The Easter Photo Event, Bake Sales, Spaghetti Dinners, and something they call “Tricky Tray” that happens every year in October. In fact it’s their largest fundraiser. Unfortunately they had to cancel in 2021 due to the Pandemic. Sadly, the event is also canceled for 2022.

What’s the ADVANTAGE of Working With The Pet Adoption League?

Because PAL doesn’t have a building to run its daily operations from, they rely on adoption space at local pet supply stores. As of now, PetSmart in Mt. Olive, NJ has designated them as a Charitable Partner, which gives them the opportunity to have their cats seen by potential families. This is one of the best ways they help animals find a loving, forever home.

What that means is…

-You can meet the cat or kitten you’re interested in adopting BEFORE you decide to take them home.

-The adoption process is much easier since you don’t have to fill out a ton of  paperwork at the store.

-You get a coupon for 20% off your pet’s first bag of food.

-And last but certainly not least, you’ll be saving a life!

Plus, Cats and kittens available for adoption are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed… the whole 9 yards. How does The Pet Adoption League continue to operate after all these years? They rely on donations to help continue their life saving. In other words, if people don’t step-in and help out, they can’t do the amazing work that they do every single day.
